This was a good read for my husband and I when we first set out fulltiming at the age of 25. Sure there is the 'cute humor' which seems to be present in many of the Complete Idiots Guides, but we didn't mind:-)
I have never owned or vacationed in an RV.but I'm thiking very hard about starting this new lifestyle. This book has been a near-perfect guide for me, and it has really helped educate me on all the various aspects of owning, operating, and maintaining a RV.I definitely recommend this book; it's very well-written, and a quite enjoyable read.
I was buffaloed by the systems that the guys usually take care of--the water tanks, batteries, power systems, etc.Face it. What's out there for RVers. It does spend a fair amount of time on the "upfront" issues. If any part of all this malfunctions, it can be dangerous, irksome, and/or inconvenient.
What kind of an RV is right for you. I liked the book very much. There are many systems within the confines of an RV. It supplied references I could check out. So the book may be best suited to those who are new to the experience, but, duh, it's the idiot's guide.
Everything that's needed to live on the road--refrigerator, shower, sink, cupboards, closets, tv, beds, and more. I felt more equal to the task I was undertaking once I had read The Idiot's Guide. Do you want to buy an RV. I recall a hot evening in Minnesota, with bugs swarming outside and the air conditioning not working inside. If you've rented an RV, traveled in one with your parents or friends, you may be at a different pay grade. When I bought it, I was a woman in my sixties, not mechanical by nature, planning to travel alone.
I'd never owned an RV, though I'd taken a few trips in one. At that moment, more permanency in my home seemed highly desirable. The Idiot's Guide supplied the answers to many of my questions in a very clear though breezy manner, with lists, illustrations, and explanations. Not that I knew everything, it's kind of RVing 101, so the basics were covered and I could move on from there.
This book is being a great help in our decision to get into RVing, whether it's full time RVing, or occasional as well as whether it's better to go motorhome or tow behind. Great read.
This book has lots of great information.but it the writing style goes overboard in its attempts to be funny. The book would be half its size if you cut out the silliness.
